The first snow came right on time on December 1st. I had a lovely time last night walking around the neighborhood with some housemates. Our neighborhood is very magical, with wreaths on everyone's door, and garlands on the gas lamps. Presently, I am in a training for Salesforce.com administrators. I find this somewhat hilarious. What am I doing at a $2500 training for of corporate people? At least we get lots of freebies... |

Excitingly, I got accepted today to live at the Beacon Hill Friends House. Since I already have two job offers in Boston through Americorps, this is ideal. Unless I update otherwise, I will probably be moving in within the week. Thus, my address for the next year will be:

| Julie's Birthday Challenge! |
[Jul. 1st, 2007|01:13 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | That's right, my birthday is coming up on July 18th! Since last year was such a great success, I am going to repeat my request. For my birthday, I would like each of you if possible to send me mail, of the type that comes on PAPER, or some other non-digital substance. It doesn't have to be a long, impassioned letter; it could be just a random bit of information, a photo, a scribble, or an ad from a magazine that you like. Whatever it is, I promise to send something back, also on paper (but it might take me a little while). The "challenge" actually refers to me, because while you will be writing only one letter, last year I wrote about 13 replies!
Here's my address:
69 Chestnut Street Cambridge, MA 02139
Yay, have fun! |

| Did you borrow my book? |

My mother's very valuable near-antique copy of The Fellowship of the Ring is still missing, after I loaned it out to some Stuart person years ago. I thought it was Chanelle but she denies any knowledge. It would really be nice to get the book back, since it also has sentimental value. Thanks. |

I don't have much trouble prioritizing between multiple projects with deadlines, or multiple projects with no deadline. However, trying to do something with no deadline at the same time as several things with deadlines...it just doesn't happen. |

| Spring Break Plans and Evil Aspartame |
[Mar. 2nd, 2007|10:11 am] |
Last night, I had a frightening experience. It all started when I borrowed a stick of Winterfresh gum from my roommate. After 10 minutes or so, I realized it tasted awful and was numbing my mouth, so I spit it out. About 20 minutes later, I started to experience heart palpitations. I then started to feel nauseous. This continued until maybe two hours later, when I finally puked up my entire stomach contents. Since I hadn't eaten anything unusual besides the gum (I didn't eat it, but you get the picture) I was really puzzled. Some research uncovered the fact that the particular brand of gum contains aspartame (NutraSweet), something I hardly ever consume because I hate the taste. Further research revealed that many people have adverse reactions to aspartame, ranging from nausea, palpitations, and headache, up to anxiety attacks and seizures. If you're curious about this, you can find more information here. In other news, I'm going home for break tomorrow. It's two weeks long, and I expect there to be some road-tripping involved. If you would like me to visit you or to visit me, please let me know ASAP. EDIT: My really sweet friends did something nice for me. When Katie finished her comps (senior thesis) in Drama, she got all kind of flowers. I remarked jokingly "when I finished my comps, nobody gave me flowers!" So they got me flowers retroactively. Yay :-) |
